Shabby Store sold by administrators

Online homewares business Shabby Store has been acquired from administrators by Daniel Prendergast who operates a £9m sales online retailer specialising in rugs, therugseller.co.uk

Shabby Store had ceased trading in February, citing a raft of supply chain issues including pandemic driven cost increases. Prendergast has 15 years experience in the online homewares sector and aims to become one of the UK’s leading luxury homewares retailers. The acquisition marks the start of developing a group of multiple brands and the Shabby website is already trading under its new ownership.

Prendergast commented: “Shabby.co.uk has a fantastic reputation as the go-to place for stylish interior products and the silver-grey and mirrored furniture style aesthetic that floods our Instagram feeds, especially thanks to celebrity customers like Mrs Hinch. After a successful few years of trading and reaching an annual turnover of £2m, unfortunately, Shabby Store succumbed to the pressures that many retail companies are facing today, but it deserved to be saved and given a new lease of life, which is exactly what we’re planning to do.”
