Shop Direct postpones sale of business

The sale of the Shop Direct business has been called to a halt resulting in speculation that there were few interested parties and that the business’ reliance on income from its credit based sales had been a factor. Elsewhere Brexit has been blamed for creating uncertainty into the future trading potential for the former Littlewoods business which re-branded as Shop Direct and now operates primarily online. It is understood that Shop Direct’s owners, the Barclay Brothers, had been seeking around £3bn for the business and had some initial interest.
