A recent study of consumer buying behaviour, conducted by SoCloz, specialists in retail digitalisation, shows that 69 per cent have opted for Click&Collect or Click&Reserve to facilitate their purchases and 92 per cent of those said they were likely to repeat the experience in the future.
Despite the rise in online shopping, the survey also revealed that consumers are still attached to bricks-and-mortar shops with more than 90 per cent of retail sales still generated in-store. It seems that physical shops continue to have the edge over pure-play online retailers, as the former integrate the latest technology in an attempt to lure shoppers back to the high street.
Retailers expect to see a surge in online customers using services such as Click&Collect and Click&Reserve in the run up to Christmas as shoppers opt for speed and convenience while avoiding home delivery charges and reducing time spent in overcrowded shops.
Commenting on the survey, Jeremie Herscovic, CEO of SoCloz, said: ‘The vast majority of retailers now see services such as Click&Collect and Click&Reserve as a means of bridging the gap between online and offline. These solutions are being adopted by a wide range of retail businesses in response to the growing consumer demand for greater convenience and flexibility. A growing number of retailers are also offering Express Click & Collect, where the product is made available in store within 2 hours of placing an order. As today’s consumers are looking for a level of service and shopping experience comparable to the web, it’s become more urgent than ever for retailers to equip themselves with the tools that can match the convenience of online shopping.’
