Stationery and business supplies specialist Staples will close 140 of its American stores this year in order to apply greater focus on its eCommerce activity. It has already shuttered 80 of its outlets. Despite this the business grew its sales by 8 per cent in its second quarter which it attributes to growth in customer acquisition, improved web conversion from its websites including its mobile site, and an extended range of products. in-store web kiosks also proved popular with its customers.
