Superdrug and Beauty Banks launch ‘The Beauty Gift Appeal’ Christmas Campaign

This Christmas, Superdrug and long-term charity partner Beauty Banks will launch ‘The Beauty Gift Appeal’. A campaign to encourage those that can, to donate any unwanted hygiene and beauty gifts to those that need them the most this Christmas.

Beauty Banks have seen an unprecedented increase in the need for donations throughout 2022, with usage up 60-80 per cent compared to other years. It is estimated that up to 8 million people could be living in hygiene poverty this winter, with an extra 320,000 people using food banks this year. Aside from food, hygiene products are in strong demand.

This December, Superdrug and Beauty Banks have partnered to enable shoppers to donate gifts and hygiene products to The Beauty Gift Appeal in over 100 Superdrug stores across the UK. The products most needed include; genderless shower gels and soaps, moisturisers, hairbrushes and hair products, male-grooming items such as shaving gel, sanitary products and nappies. Christmas gifts such as bath and grooming sets are also sought after to spread some Christmas cheer this festive season. Anyone able to donate can do so by dropping any gifts or hygiene products to a ‘Beauty Spot’ donation point in their local Superdrug store.

According to a recent Superdrug survey, 84 per cent of people said that the current cost of living has altered how they feel about Christmas this year. 74 per cent are worried about the pressure of buying Christmas food and presents, 85 per cent of customers are budgeting this Christmas and 76 per cent have said that they have consciously changed their Christmas shopping habits this year in order to spend less.

Simon Comins, chief commercial officer at Superdrug, said: “We are proud to support Beauty Banks and partner with them on The Beauty Gift Appeal campaign. Superdrug will be donating £5,000 worth of beauty, personal care and Christmas gifting products to banks across the country and will continue to support our customers and those that need it at this time.

“We have been working with Beauty Banks for over five years and have seen first-hand how invaluable the work that the charity does is, especially in these challenging times. We know  that times are tough, but would encourage anyone that feels able, to donate by dropping gifts and hygiene products in any of our 100+ collection points and help us to support those in need this Christmas.”
