Apparel retailer SuperGroup has announced plans to move its
distribution centre to Burton-on-Trent as part of a new long-term agreement
with Clipper Logistics. The move, which is expected to cost around £5 million,
will provide the company with 500,000 square feet of space. SuperGroup says the
site is “ideally located” for national carrier networks to supply the firm’s
retail outlets and to support its operations in the UK and overseas. The
existing capacity at Barnwood and Gloucester Business Park will operate while
the new facility is being developed, but could result in up to 200 job losses
upon its closure, writes the Gloucestershire Echo.
