Tesco’s online sales grew 8 per cent in the first half as rapid delivery and digital personalisation supported growth across the group.
UK online sales increased 8.4 per cent, while Tesco’s Whoosh rapid-delivery service grew 37 per cent and is on track to exceed £500m in sales this year. Whoosh now reaches more than 75 per cent of UK households, with Tesco also extending rapid-delivery reach through Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
The retailer said it had increased UK delivery capacity by around 10 per cent. It is also rolling out an AI-enabled meal-planning assistant and expanding personalised Clubcard offers.
Tesco raised the lower end of its full-year adjusted operating profit guidance. It now expects between £3.15bn and £3.30bn, compared with the previous range of £3.0bn to £3.3bn.
