At the start of 2022, the retailer pledged to support local causes within communities across the UK. All 186 stores chose a local charity to support, and since April the business has raised just over £67,000 in total for various different causes including loneliness in the elderly, cancer, homelessness, mental health, emergency services, animal charities and more.
The money was raised through in-store charity boxes, and donations were also made with every carrier bag purchase and swipe of The Original Factory Shop Club Card. Store colleagues across the UK also supported with fundraising through in-store events including tombola raffles, charity book sales and more.
The biggest donation was provided by The Original Factory Shop store in Stewarton which raised a total of £994.17 for Ayrshire Hospice, a registered charity providing outstanding quality care and services to adults throughout Ayrshire and Arran with life-limiting illness such as cancer, neurological conditions, end stage heart failure and lung disease.
Large donations were also made by the Dereham store which raised £930.76 for Dereham Cancer Care, Chard store which raised £873.38 for Chard Hospital League of Friends, Atherstone store which raised £799.76 for Sense, and Brandon store which raised £749.19 for The Mark Skinner Campaign.
Phil Briggs, managing director at The Original Factory Shop, comments “We would like to thank all our colleagues and customers who have contributed to the fantastic fundraising of over £67,000 for local charities across the UK in 2022.
