THG kickstarts recycling partnership for beauty brands

THG has formed a partnership with MYGroup and Metrisk to help customers deal with hard to recycle beauty and cosmetic packaging. The partnership is aiming to recycle one million units within its first year, with customers using a dedicated app which enables the booking of Royal Mail collection for any brand’s cosmetic packaging at zero cost.

The scheme recycle:me will provide detailed data giving insight into consumer recycling behaviour for brands as they confront the new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulation.

Mark Jones, THG chief sustainability officer said: “For brands, recycling schemes are incredibly complex and costly. With recycle.me, we are offering our brand partners a cohesive industry approach that provides the level of data needed under new EPR regulations. ”

Steve Corrie director at MYGroup said: “Although many consumers are keen to do their part, the UK recycling system often causes confusion and means that only 9 per cent of cosmetic packaging is recycled, according to the British Beauty Council.

“As the market leader in cosmetics recycling, we’re proud to be partnering with THG and its premium beauty brands to make recycling easy and accessible through recycle.me.”
