It’s been widely reported that British shirtmakers Thomas Pink is under the new ownership of Nick Preston, a former trading director at Saville Row Brands and JD Sports Fashion.
Preston, who has also worked for Republic, Harvey Nichols, and the House of Fraser, is understood to have acquired the intellectual property of the brand from LVMH (LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton). The deal does not include its website or shops.
According to the Mail on Sunday report, a company called Thomas Pink Shirtmaker has been registered in America.
The so-called ‘go-to’ luxury brand for City workers, Thomas Pink was originally founded by the Mullen brothers (James, Peter and John) in London in 1984 before LVMH bought a majority stake (70 per cent) in 1999. It was later rebranded to Pink Shirtmaker in 2019.
Last December however, following the impact of Covid-19 on trading – combined with the losses of previous years, LVMH permanently closed its flagship London store on Jermyn Street. Its website and social media accounts soon followed.
The message on its website now reads: “Don’t fret—we’ll be back soon. We’re excited to announce that we’re returning to our roots with the same team that has helped build Thomas Pink Shirtmakers over the years.
“We have some things to iron out and button up, but will be back soon with an improved website to offer you the highest quality English shirting made for modern life that you have come to know and love.”
