TJ Morris which operates the Home Bargains store chain has opened its £110 million, one million sq.ft. distribution centre in Amesbury, Wiltshire. The site utilises 15 double deck lifts and ancillary equipment which has been supplied by Transdek. This follows the successful conversion of TJ Morris’ Liverpool goods outwards operation which also operates Transdek’s double deck loading systems. 900mm high docks allow a double deck trailer to be loaded in two lift cycles, reducing vehicle loading times and reducing costs.
TJ Morris operates around 400 Home bargains stores around the UK which employ 13,500 staff. The business which has annual sales of £1.5 billion plans to add a further 300 stores by 2020.
