Tropic Skincare is using Oracle NetSuite to support its mission to create a healthier, greener, and more empowered world with organic, cruelty-free products. With NetSuite, Tropic has been able to take advantage of an integrated business system to create operational efficiencies and gain visibility across multiple departments to better manage its growth.
Founded in the UK in 2011, Tropic originated from the BBC series The Apprentice and has an ‘Infinite Purpose’ to be a ‘force-for-good beauty brand’, and has donated £1m to charities and other causes. Tropic saw a significant increase in growth in recent years, quadrupling its revenue since 2018, and last year generated over £90m in revenue from its network of Tropic Ambassadors and eCommerce sales. As its operations rapidly expanded, Tropic found that its finance system struggled to cope with increasingly large transaction volumes, creating inefficiencies and data management issues. In response, and with a desire to establish a platform to support future growth as it eyes new markets, Tropic selected NetSuite to bring together finance, supply chain, and warehousing on a single system.
“Tropic’s mission is to create luxurious beauty products while treating the Earth with care and attention. Our systems are key to supporting that philosophy,” said Muhammad Bilal, financial controller, Tropic Skincare. “Our previous system required too many workarounds to extract simple data. Now, with NetSuite, we spend more time on strategic analysis and planning. Our departments can identify issues before they arise, and we are automating tasks that were a manual chore for years. NetSuite is simple to configure, easy to understand, and helps us keep pace with consumer demand.”
With NetSuite, Tropic handles over 100 million transactions a year. NetSuite has enabled Tropic to gain a single view across its business and become more productive by automating finance, supply chain, and inventory management processes. Tropic’s finance team is now able to close the books in half the time, manage complex invoicing requirements across its supplier network, and address requirements of the Making Tax Digital legislation. NetSuite helps streamline processes as it acts as the command centre for end-to-end manufacturing of over 3,000 SKUs and 400 finished products, which helps Tropic comply with its strict quality assurance standards. In addition, the insights provided by NetSuite has enabled the Tropic team to more efficiently meet the demands of busy sales periods by improving the accuracy and responsiveness of its inventory management processes. Tropic plans to build on its success with NetSuite by using the system to also manage its payroll.
“Despite stiff competition in the health and beauty market, Tropic has established itself as one of the UK’s fastest-growing skincare brands with an award-winning product portfolio,” said Brandon Wilkins, senior director, EMEA account management, Oracle NetSuite. “Now, with NetSuite, Tropic has one system to support its business as it grows. This foundation will allow Tropic to diversify, scale, and introduce new product lines even quicker, with an eye on productivity along the way.”
