Twitter foray into eCommerce

It
has been announced by Twitter that it is beginning to test a new way for users
to discover and buy products online via a new ‘buy’ button.

“Following
in Facebook’s footsteps, Twitter faces a tough hurdle to get its users to make
purchases from within their feeds. Now, let’s not underestimate the size of
Twitter’s audience, even if a very small percentage of its users make a
purchase, that could quickly become a valuable revenue stream to Twitter.
However, the eCommerce market may be a tough nut for Twitter to crack. If
Twitter wants to be a force in eCommerce, it will have to figure out how to get
users out of that relaxed mode of “what are my friends and favourite
celebrities up to?” and “what is trending” and shift them into more of a
shopping mindset.”
