Very has recorded a 25.2 per cent year on year increase in its revenues for the seven weeks to Christmas. The business said that home and electricals were its strongest categories which enjoyed a 46.2 per cent and 44.8 per cent increase respectively. The Very website also attracted 139m visits which was up by 49.7 per cent year on year. For Black Friday – November 6th – December 2nd – sales were up by 25.8 per cent.
The online retailer had processed 3.9 million orders which peaked at 265 orders per minute through the new automated fulfilment centre which opened in March 2020.
Revenue excluding financial services at Very was up by 23.3 per cent year on year with overall group revenue up by 15.3 per cent year on year, surpassing £500 million.
CEO Henry Birch said: “We are delighted with Very’s outstanding performance, which shows UK families were more determined than ever to celebrate this Christmas, despite all of the challenges of 2020. Because we sell everything our customers could possibly want, except food, are online only and offer a range of payment options, we were perfectly placed to help a record number of people make the most of the festive period.
“While the economic picture remains unpredictable, we have strong momentum as we begin the year.”
