WAWWA Clothing expands in-house manufacturing

Streetwear brand WAWWA Clothing has committed to expanding its in-house manufacturing capabilities and training local designers, cutters and seamstresses.

The Manchester-based brand said it will develop staple garments exclusively designed, sourced and created on-site. The move aims to support the revitalisation of the textiles industry in Manchester.

The factory in Islington will support the brand’s sustainable approach. Alongside its in-house sampling and a new women’s wear offering, WAWWA said it will continue to produce its recycled denim and organic waxed cotton bucket hats, messenger bags, totes, masks, masks pouches, planters & sewing kits within the factory.

WAWWA Clothing said it will continue to celebrate its team’s local craftsmanship whilst working with nearby businesses – including a Bolton-based factory that creates their outerwear – to source new innovative materials and create new products.

The factory space in Islington will be utilised to train young local people in the textiles industry with the aim to stem the migration of talented designers, cutters and seamstresses out of Manchester.

The brand said it champions its local approach to reinvigorate a dying trade, encouraging new people to participate in more local-focused, economically sustainable and environmentally conscious practices. Moving forwards, the WAWWA Clothing said it plans on expanding the factory’s team, the size of the space and the output of conscious and considered products produced.
