Marketing managers at a number of household brands are sampling Whistl’s in-home sampling service as a way to get their products in front of consumers. The mixture of FMCG products from personal health through to breakfast bars and tea bags have been hitting consumers’ letterboxes through targeted campaigns across the UK combining product samples and money off vouchers. The brands using Whistl, include Nikwax distributing trial samples of its waterproofing liquid and AB World Foods Westmill brand sending a full-size sample of its Elephant Atta Flour to homes to increase sales through independent stores.
Mark Davies, managing director Whistl Doordrop Media, said: “Brand managers recognise the unique role of sampling within the marketing mix to either promote a new product or reinvigorate an established brand. At home, consumers are able to experience the product straight away such as with a tea bag putting the product front of mind to drive sales with discount coupons both instore and online. In-home sampling by Whistl has the unique ability to bring a brand to life in the environment in which it will be used.”
The update on Whistl’s success with in-home sampling coincides with its announcement of a 24 per cent year on year increase in its doordrop volumes underling the continuing importance of physical printed media in the marketing mix.
