Wickes has reported a return to growth in its retail division, with group revenue increasing by 2.3 per cent to £483 million during its second quarter.
Retail revenue rose by 1.8 per cent, or 0.6 per cent on a like-for-like basis. TradePro sales increased by 6 per cent following a 9 per cent rise in active membership.
DIY sales remained broadly flat, although digitally led click-and-collect and home-delivery sales grew by 7 per cent.
Revenue from Wickes’ kitchen and bathroom design and installation business increased by 3.8 per cent, with like-for-like sales up 1.8 per cent. Its Lifestyle Kitchens and Bespoke Bathrooms ranges continued to deliver strong growth.
Demand for Bespoke Kitchens was slower, however, as customers remained cautious about committing to larger purchases. Although the number of design and installation projects increased, the value of ordered sales was slightly lower than during the equivalent period last year.
Wickes refitted or refreshed eight stores and closed one site during the first half. It expects to open between four and five new locations and refit or refresh 15 to 20 stores over the full year.
The retailer remains comfortable with market expectations for its 2026 adjusted pre-tax profit.
David Wood, chief executive of Wickes, said: “This has been another period of revenue growth, driven once again by volumes and an increase in the number of Wickes customers.
“Our Retail business has performed well given the current external environment, with TradePro’s convenient and value-led offer seeing even more local tradespeople turn to Wickes.
“In Design and Installation, the broadening of our offer is supporting current consumer trends, with our Wickes Lifestyle Kitchens proving particularly popular.
“Looking ahead, our strategy leaves us well placed to continue to win as we accelerate our store rollout and refresh programme.”
