Wincanton wins new contract with Snug

Wincanton has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with online furniture retailer Snug to provide them with eFulfilment, stock management and final-mile home delivery services.

It’s the latest in a series of contract wins for the logistics firm, which has expanded its position in the home delivery space considerably over the past year – adding Dobbies, Dwell, The White Company and Sofa Club to its client list.

WincantonWincanton will now fulfil all Snug’s customer orders, with large products being delivered via its two-person home delivery network.

Wincanton will also create an end-to-end supply chain for Snug, including the management of inbound container stock, inventory management and stockholding, pick and despatch of customer orders and the handling and processing of returns.

Snug – known for launching the UK’s first-ever sofa in a box – is to become one of the principal customers at Wincanton’s automated eFulfilment facility in Rockingham, Northamptonshire.

Further investment is planned for this facility to develop next-gen robotics and digital solutions, it says.

Paul Durkin, managing director of digital & eFulfilment at Wincanton, said: “Snug required a long-term logistics partner to manage its warehousing fulfilment operations, as well as provide a critical role on the front-line meeting customer’s delivery expectations.

“Wincanton’s well-established eCommerce and eFulfilment capabilities, enhanced by our new development [in Rockingham], means we are well placed to support Snug with their continued growth.”

Rob Bridgman, founder & CEO at Snug, said: “Snug started the ‘sofa in a box’ movement and in doing so has created one of the UK’s fastest-growing eCommerce brands.  Snug’s ready to assemble sofas are delivered in days and assembled in minutes without the need for tools, setting us apart from all other sofa brands.
