With consumer demand expected to rise dramatically on Black Friday 2015 – 27th November – Yodel is amongst carriers which have planned ahead to avoid the chaos that hit them last year. In Yodel’s case it has said it will ring fence access to its next-day parcel delivery services and accept only pre-contracted volumes from its established retailer clients. Last year Yodel was inundated by an additional 600,000 parcels which it struggled to cope with. Yodel’s own market research amongst consumers indicated that four times as many consumers are likely to place online orders on Black Friday than last year and that 76 per cent would be happy to wait longer for orders to be delivered if tracking was in place.
