In an effort to reduce returns Zalando is testing the use of 3D scanning technology to accurately measure the size of garments. In in its home country, Germany more than half of all items ordered online are currently returned. Zalando is using models to try on hundreds of items a day and is collecting data on how the garments fit. This will enable Zalando to provide customers with more accurate information on how individual garments may fit them at the point of purchase.
