ASDA scraps Black Friday

Following the news announcement that Asda will not
be offering any Black Friday deals this year, Nick Swan, founder of the
money saving website Voucher Codes made the following comment:

“It
came as a really big shock to everyone that Asda has decided to shun
its Black Friday deals for the 2015 season, and only time will tell if
there are any serious repercussions of such a drastic financial
decision. Asda wasone of the retailers that helped to introduce the event to the UK market in 2013, with itsowner
Walmart a big player in the US Black Friday sales, and has been one of
the major players in the UK in offering fantastic deals on electronic
goods in the lead-up to the festive season.”

He continued:

“Personally,
I think it is a big mistake for Asda. Whilst I fully support the
premise of maintained discounts throughout the Christmas period, not
just one flash sale, the simple fact is that Black Friday is growing
each year, with this year set to be the most profit-making yet. Asda
will miss out on sales, as there is no doubt consumers looking to save
money will go elsewhere in the search for the best deals on Black
Friday.”
