Devon based Gift Company creates puzzling new Board Game!

Exeter-based personalised gift company Butler and Hill has launched a brand-new board game based on its bestselling Personalised Map Jigsaw Puzzle. The game is a new twist on traditional board games and each game made will be completely unique to the person who buys it.

Hometown! is the name of the game, which Butler and Hill describe as ‘a fun and highly entertaining game of strategy and skill that will bring out your competitive side.’ The game includes four identical map jigsaw puzzles – all centred on the customers’ address – and the aim is to complete the puzzle before anyone else. But it’s not that simple – each game includes ‘wildcards’ which players can use to stop others in their tracks.

The company, which is owned by Hatherleigh-based Map Marketing, makes personalised map jigsaw puzzles and has sold an astounding 1 million units worldwide over the last 15 years. Brian O’Donnell, managing director of Map Marketing says that the company decided to create a board game to expand its offering beyond jigsaw puzzles and personalised maps.

Cynthia Yeoh, head of marketing at Butler & Hill, said “Customers who have previously bought our bestselling customised map jigsaw puzzle tell us that they love finding recognisable places in their puzzle, especially when it’s their hometown, and this is what we wanted to integrate into the game. Every game created will be unique to that person or family.” Customers simply provide their address and postcode of choice and the game will be created on this location.

Hometown! combines the fun of jigsaw puzzling, the science of map reading and the competitiveness of board games. This personalised game is fun and sociable and will help you to get to know the area around you.

Cynthia said: ‘We are very excited about the release of Hometown! We have played it many times and have asked our customers to trial the game. We have had really positive feedback and have decided to release it for Christmas 2018. Hometown! has been in the mind of the company for some time and we’re delighted that it has now come to fruition. I am proud of the team that has worked very hard on making our first ever game and I hope that our customers love it as much as we do.”
