Retail sales at ASOS are up 34 per cent with 8.2 million customers shopping at the online store. Interim results for the six months ending 28 February show a raise in both retail sales and active customers yet, despite this, profit before tax was down 22 per cent. This is largely due to investment in warehousing and technology to create capacity for sales of up to £2.5 billion per annum. Continual investment in a China start-up operation also contributes to the current fall in profits.
