Doddle JV to roll out across UK

Network Rail is joint venturing with Doddle, a new collection and returns service backed by Lloyd Dorfman. Doddle outlets will be based in Network Rail train stations and some 300 new locations are in the pipeline following the success of the initial trial store in Milton Keynes.

The new delivery option has already secured interest from ASOS, TM Lewin, and New Look, with the team behind Doddle saying it has many more online retailers keen to offer the option to their customers. The first stores to open will be at London Waterloo, Bromley South, Brighton, Chelmsford and London Cannon Street. They will be open for “long hours” seven days a week and many will also feature changing rooms so that customers can try garments on and return any that aren’t suitable whilst on site.

Any retailer can offer the Doddle service, the choice of which is actioned by the consumer at check out when choosing from delivery options. The service will also enable consumers to combine collections and returns into a single trip at a time that suits them,  or to coincide with a regular journey.

Tim Robinson, chief executive at Doddle, who was previously route managing director for Sussex at Network Rail said “We created Doddle to improve the online shopping experience. We’re not another “me too” click and collect offer, it’s a game changing service consumers are crying out for but no one else can provide.”

This is the latest venture for Dorfman who will act as Doddle chairman and is best known for founding Travelex.
