Powa Technologies has acquired Hong Kong based MPayMe for US $75m and will now integrate MPayMe’s Znap mobile payments technology into its PowaTag platform to create new features. Znap’s pbSecurePat technology will enable PowaTag users to pay utility bills from service providers which use Pitney Bowes for their billing accounts. Pitney Bowes currently manages 80 per cent of utility bills in the USA and over 50 per cent in Europe.
In a further development, the Powa Technologies business, headed by Dan Wagner, has also signed a deal with Taiwan Mobile which will provide PowaTag payment options to its five million customers. Wagner commented “by incorporating digital catalogues, coupons, vouchers, loyalty integration and access control, we are enabling true commercial freedom for merchants and consumers.”
