Alipay, China’s leading e-payments service has announced a partnership with open source eCommerce solution provider Prestashop to enable the latter’s 250,000 etail business users the opportunity to sell into the Chinese market. Alipay currently processes 50 per cent of online payments in China with US $14.3 billion of gross merchandise volume settled through Alipay on Alibaba’s retail marketplaces in one day alone – on the 11 November Global Shopping Festival event .
With high demand from Chinese consumers for European products particularly across the baby, maternity, food supplements, cosmetic and fashion sectors, the Chinse market is compelling for European retailers. Alipay’s cross border online payment module is natively integrated to the back office and is available now in the Prestashop Add Ons marketplace for merchants to download.
