Long Tall Sally, which has its headquarters in London, has announced its acquisition of US competitor Long Elegant Legs which also specialises in serving tall woman. This will see LTS generating US $20 million sales from the American market where it operates stores as well as catalogue and online sales.
“Long Elegant Legs has been serving the US market via its catalogues and website for 25 years and is a great fit for our business,” said Andrew Shapin, CEO. “From the end of this month all orders for LEL will be directed to our Long Tall Sally website and we look forward to providing a great service to our new customers.” Whilst the two businesses have some overlap in customer files, the acquisition brings a traunch of 170,000 loyal customers to Long Tall Sally.
Long Tall Sally, as a whole, generated a 17 per cent increase in its like for like sales over the Christmas trading period (29/11/15 to 02/01/16) with the UK accounting for 35 per cent of sales, remaining the brand’s strongest market. It is on track to achieve record sales in 2016 with its offering of fashionable clothing and footwear for tall women. The business has a rapidly increasing and loyal customer base with an established global retail footprint of 26 stores in the US, Canada, UK and Germany, plus a successful online operation shipping to 160 countries worldwide.
