myHermes goes head to head with competitors

myHermes, the consumer delivery specialist, has gone head-to-head with its competitors, such as Royal Mail, by altering its parcel weight bands for smaller and medium sized parcels. The move is designed to showcase the cost effective services offered by myHermes to SMEs, Internet power sellers and consumers looking to send parcels.

myHermes has revised the parcel weight bands to make it easier for both small businesses and consumers to compare prices against its competitors. This will ensure that organisations and individuals alike will have the opportunity to benefit from choosing the carrier that offers the best value when sending parcels of different sizes.

Up until now, myHermes customers have paid incremental shipping costs as the weight of the parcel increases, ranging from “up to 1kg” for the lightest items and “up to 2kg” for those slightly heavier parcels, all the way “up to 15kgs”. The delivery firm has now created two new weight bands: “0-2kg Small” and “0-2kg Medium”. Consumers sending parcels under 2kgs in weight and equal or less than 45cm x 35cm x 16cm (length, height, width) will be able to take advantage of the smaller category, whilst those measuring more can opt for the “0-2kg Medium” band.

Despite the adjustments, prices will remain the same as under the pre-existing system, whilst myHermes will continue to offer a range of additional benefits, including track and trace plus free parcel cover up to the value of £25, which surpasses what is offered by many other service providers.

Eoin Kenneally, Head of Ecommerce at myHermes, said: “This adjustment brings our parcel weight bands in line with many of our competitors and will therefore provide sole traders, SMEs and independent retailers with the ability to better compare shipping costs. By enhancing transparency across the marketplace, we will ensure more consumers can benefit from the true value for money offered by myHermes’ range of services.”
