Much as expected one head has rolled at Sports Direct. David Forsey has resigned his position as chief executive at Sports Direct following many weeks of negative press reports surrounding working conditions and what have been described as “workhouse” conditions endured by warehouse operatives in its Derbyshire distribution centre. The national press has also focused upon Forsey and his wife taking part in an episode of The Real Housewives in which they flaunted their wealth and high standard of living at a time when allegations ere being made that the business was not conforming with minimum wage legislation. Mike Ashley has now returned to a fully executive role at the business as it works to restore its reputation with its shareholders and the wider market.
