As reported late last year, The White Company is set to open its first US store this summer. The Fifth Avenue location sets the UK company’s international development plan in motion and will be followed, we understand, by further store openings, this time in selected malls in wealthy enclaves in New York state, Connecticut and New Jersey. This bucks the trend in the US where retailers are slashing store numbers as the growth in online shopping has made many outlets unprofitable.
