Ownership of the Booths supermarket chain which is mostly family owned may well be changing as the business has appointed NM Rothschild to find a buyer. The 170 year old business has had a difficult few years of mounting losses which saw its longstanding CEO step down and Edwin Booth assume the role of chairman and chief executive. Booths employs more than 2800 staff and has often been referred to as the Waitrose of the North. It operates from 20 stores in the North West and also sells online.
