Store and head office jobs face the axe

Arcadia’s Topshop and Topman chains have joined the raft of national retail outlets seeking to rationalise store staffing by combining responsibilities in order to eliminate some roles. In this instance co-located Topshop and Topman stores will now have a single brand manager rather than one for each of the brands and it is understood that this may also apply to stores which are separate but in close proximity to each other.  The Arcadia Group has been reported as stating that affected staff will be redeployed wherever feasible.

Head office as well as store roles are also under the spotlight at many supermarket chains with all seeking to make serious savings in overheads to be able to achieve better bottom line results.  B&Q is also rumoured to be about to reduce its head office team by around 200.
