Office products giant Staples has announced the appointment of J. Alexander Douglas as its CEO effective from April 2nd. He replaces Shira Goodman who had held the role since the departure of Ron Sargent. Shira had initially been deployed on an interim basis before taking up the permanent position in Autumn 2016.
Now privately owned since its acquisition by Sycamore Partners in 2017, Staples sold off its overseas interests after a merger with Office Depot was stopped by the Federal Commission on anti-trust concerns.
Douglas was most recently president of Coca-Cola North America.
