M&S will close 100 stores

Marks and Spencer has confirmed that it will be closing 100 stores over the next four years, in addition to the 21 stores it has already closed.  These necessary closures says the retailer, could lead to some redundancies but it will be seeking to redeploy as many staff as possible at other stores and, to that end,  consultation has commenced with those who will be the first to be affected.

The retailer will also be introducing concessions in a bid to reshape its offering to create fewer, better clothing and home stores supported by a seamless online offering across all digital channels with next day collect in store services.
