Schuh has posted its results for the year to February 3rd in which sales had risen by 9.8 per cent to £308.5 million but accompanying pre-tax profits were down by 9.6 per cent to £15 million.
The shoe retailing business acknowledged that it had engaged in promotional activity to compete with rivals, particularly from Black Friday onward and had found the market to be much tougher in the run up to Christmas.
