Poundstretcher which is re-branding to Bargain Buys opened forty new stores in the Autumn and is planning to have 40 more open in the Spring. The retailer has been able to secure former Original Factory Shop premises as well as others that have become available as other retailers struggle. Property director Gerry Loughran said: “We see ample opportunity on the high street now with the dip in the rental cost for better property and the size available.” Adding, “we are working closely with a number of retailers that are looking to resize their estates or to split up their big stores. There is an opportunity for us there.”
