John Lewis Partnership has reported that its sales were up by 11.1 per cent year-on-year in the final week of 2018, with a particularly strong performance from its Waitrose chain.
In the week ending December 29, total group sales come in at £279.67 million, up from £251.63 million reported for the same week last year, and just under £248.23 million for the year prior. The results helped to offset a disappointing peak season with sales having fallen by 4.8 per cent year-on-year for the week ending December 22. However, for the 48 weeks to date, overall sales have so far dropped by 0.5 per cent year-on-year.
Its clearance event, now underway, has seen strong demand.
