M&S sales drop by 2.2 per cent

In the 13 weeks to 29 December like-for-like food sales dropped by 2.1 per cent at M&S, with clothing and home sales down by 2.4 per cent. International sales were also impacted with total sales falling by 15.1 per cent. The company blamed the fall in clothing and home sales on lower footfall as well as its reducing store estate. Online sales had grown by 14 per cent as a result of improvements to online operations and proposition.
