eBay launches Independent Living hub on site

With customer demand for medical and mobility products growing 20 per cent, eBay UK has announced that it will be introducing a brand new Independent Living hub on-site to help Brits make small changes that make a big difference, both in and outside the home.

The new hub has been launched ahead of Disabled Access Day on 16 March, to aid those who struggle to find the essential day-to-day items that improve their quality of life, by creating a central hub where they can search via a single platform as opposed to multiple retailers or specialist outlets.

With 1.3 million buyers shopping from the medical and mobility category in 2018, the dedicated hub has already attracted well-known brands such as Tena, Drive and Omron. And with one in four people in the UK living with a physical or mental disability, eBay will also look to grow the selection of inventory based on customers’ needs and requirements over the next 12 months.

Current product categories are also designed to offer simple solutions for making the home feel safer, with everything from wheelchairs and daily living aids, to orthopaedic products and mobility fixtures.

Says Keith Metcalfe, head of UK Lifestyle Trading at eBay UK: “We are extremely pleased to announce the launch of the Independent Living hub on site. With products including everything from mobility and clothing, to home, garden and car accessories – our overall aim is to become the first richly diverse ‘one-stop-shop’ for people coping with disabilities and make independence easier with the clicking of a button.”
