commercetools, a global leader in next-generation commerce software, today announced its expansion into the UK market with a new office and team located in London. The company provides a true cloud commerce platform for digital commerce brands and retail businesses.
Led by Steven Fockema Andreae, head of sales Western Europe, commercetools is targeting UK customers who are looking to take a ‘strangle and replace’ approach to leaving legacy eCommerce platforms behind and start delivering more engaging and higher revenue-driving commerce experiences that are simpler and quicker to create, grow and manage.
Joining Steven are UK business director James Dye, who has worked with major retail brands including Argos, IKEA, Game, Topshop, Ted Baker and Office; and Fernando Lisboa as solutions engineer, who joins from Elastic Path in the UK.
commercetools is backed by REWE, a global retail and tourism group, best known for its German supermarket chain, which is the country’s second-largest. The company’s leading-edge API approach helps brands and retailers create brand value by empowering commerce teams to design unique and engaging digital commerce experiences everywhere – today and in the future.
Commenting on the UK expansion, Steven Fockema Andreae, head of sales Western Europe, commercetools said: “We are excited to be entering the UK market where first-generation commerce platforms simply aren’t fit for purpose at a time of intense competition and structural shake-up. Retailers and brands urgently need to complete their move to true cloud commerce platforms that can make them agile and responsive to dynamic consumer retail trends without the high costs, inflexibility and poor customer experiences associated with legacy platforms.”
He adds: “commercetools has already made a dent in the UK commerce market and last year signed up several clients who moved from legacy platforms to commercetools. Together with implementation partners E2X, EPAM, Wundermann, Dept and Valtech we have a strong base to quickly further expand in this exciting market.”
commercetools is already used by brands familiar to the UK market, for example, Carhartt WIP, Vision Express, Tradeprint, World of Books and Hasbro Wizards of the Coast.
