The launch of the M&S/Ocado home shopping service generated far more orders than could be serviced. With 6800 products available to order in an environment which has seen many consumers flock to online ordering, this was hardly surprising.
Ocado cut its teeth in its long term partnership with Waitrose enabling it to iron out most problems. Waitrose is, of course, now facing a head to head competitor as it paves the way for its own future home delivery business.
M&S Food managing director Stuart Machin said: “Taking our full food range online for the first time is transformative. In preparation for go-live, we have listened intently to customers to deliver an even bigger, better range.”
