Wincanton has been awarded a new five year contract by Primark for the provision of transport services covering all of its UK stores. The contract commences early in 2022 and will see Wincanton make more than 50,000 deliveries to 191 stores. As part of the contract, Primark and Wincanton will work together to ensure there is a reduction in carbon emissions. This will involve use of alternative fuels as well as reducing distances travelled by HGVs.
Over one hundred colleagues will stay on their roles and join the Wincanton team.
Primark director of logistics Mark Shirley said: “We are excited to be working with the Wincanton team whose size and expertise match the growing demand from our customers. Wincanton has developed sustainable solutions that will bolster Primark’s logistics capacity in the UK and we look forward to continuing to innovate and improve our transport operations.”
