Frasers has acquired online homewares retailer Amara. Michael Murray, Frasers CEO revealed the news on LinkedIn yesterday saying that the acquisition will complement Flannels. Amara sells an upmarket range sourced from major designer brands from its Essex location. The business had reportedly exhausted all funding avenues prior to the deal being struck and it has yet to be revealed whether the full Amara team will be retained.
“This acquisition will build on our ambitions to create a credible homeware destination for Flannels,” said Michael Murray. It is understood that Frasers paid around £2m for the business and assets.
News of the acquisition, for which more details are awaited, may help to compensate Frasers for missing out on Joules.
