N Brown Group’s share price has risen sharply following the impact of Frasers Group acquiring a further significant tranche of shares last Friday. However, the shares newly risen to 39.5p, are still way below their pinnacle which, in 2014, had reached 582p. The business has shed a number of unprofitable brands in recent years, opened and then closed what it described as a flagship store in London’s Oxford Street, and has worked to create a digital first structure.
It is believed that Frasers has a keen interest in taking the N Brown Group business over and ‘blending’ elements of it with Studio. This would, if it comes to fruition, bring the SimplyBe, Jacamo and JD Williams brands into Frasers enabling the acquisitive group to achieve significant overhead savings whilst maximising the potential for each of the brands.
