Americans are no longer the only consumers who can benefit from
the off-price offerings of Overstock.com. The Salt Lake
City-based online discounter now sells to shoppers in Canada and
the EU, including the UK. It uses geolocation technology to
identify which country visitors are coming from so that it can
then present prices in the local currency, automatically adjusted
for fluctuations in exchange rates. The soft launch was 27th
August; on that day, despite a lack of advertising, Overstock
received orders from 17 countries. The company plans to begin
selling into even more countries next year.
