Merchmix launches world’s first AI-powered, agentic SaaS retail platform to eliminate stock inefficiency

Merchmix has unveiled the world’s first agentic SaaS retail platform – a breakthrough that doesn’t just analyse retail data, but uses AI to ingest 200+ external sources, and delivers agentic workflows to act on it. By autonomously optimising stock levels, sending supplier alerts, raising purchase orders, or reconfiguring in-store layouts in real time, Merchmix eliminates one of retail’s most costly inefficiencies: stock optimisation.

According to the 2024 IHL Group report, global inventory distortion – combining the costs of both stockouts and overstocks – is projected at US  $1.7 trillion, a significant financial burden on retailers worldwide. Legacy tools leave buyers, merchandisers, and store teams operating in silos, relying on gut feel or outdated reports. The result: empty shelves during peak demand, warehouses stuffed with unsellable products, and frustrated customers.

Merchmix unites planning, buying, merchandising, and store operations in one intelligent platform, combining:

Real-Time Retail Inference Engine at enterprise scale – Merchmix crunches 200+ external data sources (sales, weather, events, competitor pricing, and social signals) and recomputes predictions in milliseconds. Instead of overnight batch reports, teams get live trading intelligence – every decision updated as the world changes.

  • SKU-level buying recommendations – for buyers and planners to keep bestsellers in stock while reducing overbuying.
  • Automated replenishment and purchase orders – ensuring optimal stock availability.
  • Store layout optimisation – based on live customer flow and sales performance.
  • Cross-functional visibility – for finance, marketing, and operations teams, aligning everyone to topline KPIs.

Retailers can simply ask: “Which SKUs will sell out in Manchester this weekend?” or “What if I move 10 per cent of stock online?” – and Merchmix instantly delivers both the analysis and takes action with autonomous agentic workflows. Retailers using AI-based inventory management typically see a 10–20 per cent reduction in stock levels (McKinsey, 2023) and up to 4x ROI (Deloitte, 2022).

“Launching new international markets at Marks & Spencer taught me every customer base in each country behaves differently, and those nuances are expensive to get wrong,” said Nicola Bond, co-founder and CEO of Merchmix who has 18 years expertise spanning Retail and Tech including senior buying roles at ASOS.com, Debenhams, and Best and Less. “With Merchmix, we’ve built the colleague every retailer wishes they had – one who never sleeps, knows the data inside-out, and helps you make the right call to protect margin and growth whether you’re a buyer, merchandiser, or store manager.”

Gemma Mowser, co-Founder and COO, who has worked in retail and tech-enabled fulfilment for Tesco, Kmart, Alshaya Group (for whom she managed the American Eagle franchise through rapid MENA expansion) and Australian Heritage Brands Sportscraft, SABA & JAG, added: “As a merchandiser, I saw first-hand how buyers and merchandisers worked from different playbooks. Merchmix gives everyone the same facts, and turns data into action so teams can focus on trading, not chasing spreadsheets.”

Built for resilience, the platform delivers enterprise-grade speed and 99.999 per cent uptime. Aneesh Bond, co-Founder and CTO, who was part of the team that build the product lifecycle management (PLM) system for Groupo Inditex, parent brand of Zara and Massimo Dutti, commented: “We engineered Merchmix to give retailers of all sizes the agility and reliability usually reserved for global giants.”

The company is in pilot with retailers across fashion and pharmacy, and targets companies across the retail sector spectrum, from pet care to FMCG and automotive.
