Royal Mail’s planned wholesale price increases are likely to suspended while Ofcom considers a dispute brought by members of the Mail Competition Forum.
The increases were announced on 23 July and were due to take effect on 5 October 2026.
The forum represents access operators that collect and sort bulk mail for businesses and public-sector organisations before handing it to Royal Mail for delivery.
Ofcom will determine whether the proposed increases meet its requirement for access charges to be fair and reasonable.
The regulator intends to issue a decision within four months. Under Royal Mail’s contracts, the increases will remain suspended pending that decision.
The dispute resolution process does not constitute formal enforcement action against Royal Mail.
