Multititle catalogue company First Resources has unveiled a new
corporate identity. From now on it will be known as Scotts & Co
Direct Retailers, a rebranding designed to reflect the group’s
“diverse character” and incorporate its nine brands
as “partner companies”.
“All catalogue and website brands will continue to trade
independently of each other,” explained chairman Nigel
Swabey, “but will now share customer service and fulfilment
facilities at our hub in Groundwell, Wiltshire”.
Purchased in 1996 by the family trusts of Swabey, who founded
catalogue brands Kaleidoscope and Innovations in the 1970s and
1980s, Scotts & Co takes its new name from its largest catalogue
business, Scotts of Stow. This autumn/winter season, the combined
turnover of the eight other partner companies is expected to
exceed the sales turnover of the principal brand for the first
time. The company sees this as a “vindication of the policy
of brand diversification – achieved through a mix of acquisitions
and spin-off catalogue start-ups over the past 10 years”.
