Fashion etailer Asos.com will launch a US-specific website in 2010 in response to increasing demand from Stateside customers. For the 42 weeks to 17 January, London-based ASOS saw international sales more than double and analysts are predicting a 41.8 per cent increase in pretax profit for the fiscal year ending March 2010, from £14.1 million ($22.8 million) in 2009 to £20 million ($32.3 million) this year.
On the other side of the Atlantic, apparel retailer/cataloguer J Crew has signalled its intentions to launch a UK website. But don’t expect to see the site live anytime soon. In a panel hosted by US investment banking firm Financo, J Crew chief executive Millard Drexler said he wouldn’t rush into launching a UK offering.
