- London-based leather-goods specialist Smythson of
Bond Street was acquired by Greenwill
SA, the holding company of Italian leather-goods
manufacturer Tivoli Group. Greenwill paid
£18 million ($28.9 million) for Smythson, which has stores
in the UK and the US and sells globally via its website.
Smythson’s management team, including creative director Samantha
Cameron, wife of Tory leader David Cameron, is expected to remain
with the company. - UK consumers buying goods online or via mail order from
countries outside of the EU can now spend up to £135 ($217)
per order before being charged customs duty. HM Revenue and
Customs raised the threshold from a value of £120
($193).
